Saphir Medaille d'Or Special Reptile Beauty Milk is specially formulated to provide essential nourishment and protection for exotic skins, including lizard, crocodile, and snake. Normal creams and polishes are not appropriate for and could damage exotic skins.
The Saphir Reptan Special Beauty Milk was originally developed in collaboration with Hermes for use with their exotic handbags. The product was then picked up by Morabito, another Paris-based firm known for their use of exotics. After this, Avel begun to market the Reptan product under the Saphir name for consumer use.
Saphir Reptan is a unique combination of hard waxes and lanolin oil. The hard waxes protect and provide the shine while the lanolin nourishes the skin to prevent cracking without clogging the scales. If a higher-gloss shine is desired than the one produced with the Reptan, then a very small amount of neutral wax polish can be used. Any other shoe polishes, including too much use of a traditional wax polish, could cause the scales to become clogged and remove the color of the skin.
